It's an extremely quiet headset and quite comfortable with its adjustable clamping pressure. I think if you're looking at a Zulu it's worth trying the Telex before plunking down your $800.

I can add that I also have a Bose X and, in my experience, the Telex is quieter, has a slightly quieter yet clearer-sounding mic, is slightly heavier and definitely more bulky. The Bose is lighter, slimmer but not nearly as quiet as the Telex in the same airplanes (PA-28, C172S, C182T.) They have similar clamping pressures. The Telex can be adjusted to clamp more tightly, but it's still completely comfy. The Bose is also more sensitive to my sunglasses breaking the earcup seal, which really hurts the ANR performance. The Telex has thicker earcup cushions and thus doesn't suffer this problem.

I've traditionally had DC's for years -mainly because of their service. So, naturally I bought the X11 when it first came out. It was the worst headset I've ever owned - and I ended up buying a Bose.

I've been very happy with my Bose, it's been used in everything from a Cub to a Pitts, to a Bearcat and has never given any problems. I've known people that have sent their Bose in for repair - and they never charged them to fix the problem.

I tried the X11 in an Islander last summer, and was not impressed. I think my bulky Lightspeed 25XLs performed better. I have tried another DC with ANR, but I can't remember the model, and really liked it. It used a 9v battery. That was also in an Islander, and it seemed noticeably better than the X11.

Even though I have yet to try a Zulu in flight, I'm still sold.

If anybody is consiering a Zulu purchase, a Cessna Pilot Association put together a group purchase from Skygeek.....details below

We made it!

Because the SkyGeek sales department is on the telephone all time, their preferred method of contact is to e-mail them at [email protected] with your order information. Please use “CPA Zulu Order” as the subject line in your email.

If you wish to pay by Credit Card, include a telephone number they can reach you at to get your CC details rather than include it on an unsecure e-mail. Or you can send payment via PayPal to Sales@SkyGeek.

Phone calls to SkyGeek sales at 888 759-4335 will work if you can’t wait for a return call. (Again, you'll need to mention the CPA Group Purchase.)

The price per pair is $723.00 plus $8.00 FedEx overnight shipping to the lower 48. ($15.00 to AK).

Do they trade your old light speeds in also?

...remember, life is uncertain, eat desert first!
... and, those that pound their guns into plows, will plow for those who don't.

Lightspeed does have a Trade-Up Program.

I had 25XLs that I traded up to 30/3Gs. I just traded those up to Zulus.

They are really nice. The Bluetooth connection is very nice. I have Bose in my 182 and Zulus in my Super Cub. I really prefer the Zulus.

It takes a big man to cry. But it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Does one need to be a member of the Cessna Pilots Association in order to get this group discount on the Zulu?
