Headed up to Dunsmuir
Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.
I'm flying from Nut Tree up to Dunsmuir tomorrow. I want to get some pics of my plane with Shasta in the background. Is Shasta visible from the field there? I know it is at Weed but Dunsmuir is closer and looks a little higher. Stopping for fuel at Red Bluff on the way up and probably stop at Nancy's in Willows on the way back. Any must see's up there? Route keeps me over I-5 pretty much. I only have about 8 hours to skip work er..dink around er...ya you get the idea

And roughly 5 of that will be enroute so not a lot of time but wanted to see something cool up there.

From Dunsmuir you'll get more than a close-up view of Mt Shasta!!!! It's kinda right there in your face.
It's a pretty flight from the south. Shasta Lake, Castle Crags, and the Eddy's will be right under your feet.

Incredible area. Castle Crags are very cool to see up close. You should land and harass qmdv at his house in Montague.

Joey,
You might go just a bit farther North to Weed (O46).
Good services. Not much at Dunsmuir.
The view would be much better for what you want to do.
Have fun.

I agree w/Sky Truck. There isn't anything at Dunsmuir. I would keep going for 105.
You might consider Trinity Center on the way back. Nothing there either but scenic next to the lake.
Go in the morning, you won't like the afternoon and evening.
