heavy left wing, how trim tabs work.
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
hay Guys
I'm new to the forum and new to aviation. All three of my planes are light sport experimental.
My newest project I just completed is a early 90's Flightstar sc2.
I have about 20 hours of flight time in it and I have everything the way i want it except the left wing is heavy.
I put a trim tab on it and that helped a little but I still have to hold constant pressure to the right.
At first I put the trim tab on the left aileron and bent it down ( thinking the tab bent down would lift the wing up )
that didn't work. so I bent the tab up. That seemed to help so i bent it up more, but it didn't seem to help any more.
I replace that trim tab with on slightly larger and still the left wing drops.
Am I missing something. should I put the tab on the right wing?
Can someone explain this to me.
Thanks in advance.

Can you add a bit of rudder to lift the wing up? Also, is there no other way you can rig the plane? If it has 2 struts per wing you can adjust the rear one for washout. I prefer to rig wings properly rather then try to fix with tabs.

There is just one strutt per wing. As far as using the ruder to lift the wing, I never thought of that. I do have a trim tab on it also I just set it up for yaw.

Let me correct myself, there are two struts per wing.
But what would you do? do I add to the left rear strut?
I can't seem to picture it in my head what I need to change to lift the left wing.

If the left wing is heavy, and drops, then you need to shorten the rear strut on the LH side, or lengthen the rear strut on the RH side. There is a procedure for rigging, and you may want an experienced mechanic to look at it. The manufacturer should also have a procedure for it, and you should follow that. But it sounds like with your pack of experience/understanding on the subject, it would be worth having an experienced mechanic look at it and explain it.

Good advice.
Thanks for the information.
I will check around for someone who I can pick their brain for information.

This increases the AOA on that side (makes wing lighter).
Perhaps reading the rigging instruction for a similar (double-strutted wing) airplane might be beneficial.

I am surprise that the instructions with this plane had no rigging information. I looked through all 200 pages.
I have all the build sheets from the last owner.
