Does the 500' rule apply to choppers? FAA says the investigation may take some time. Sounds like it is not clear he did anything wrong.

500' rule doesn't apply to helicopters, but the rule that will get you in this case is FAR 91.13...its a rule that is open to interpretation...of course the FAA will "interpret" the action however they see fit. Good luck fighting it in court :?

a (former?) SEAL.
SEALs tend typically (near exclusively) to be high risk, big enthuasim wild men. :)
