Helio Courier Slats
Sometimes the most fun way to get into the backcountry, Part 103 Ultralights and Light Sport Aircraft have their own considerations.
Anyone has plans/ a schematic of Helio Courier slats?
There are many photos, but I would like to see the mechanism that makes them extend and also how they extend. Looks as if they drop below the lower surface of the wing, but how much?
Thanks!

They’re aerodynamic and get “pulled” up by the low pressure above the wing and open a slot. Sabre is the same. Most slats though are hydraulically powered and generally lock out until hydraulic pressure is applied to the retract side of the actuators.

No schematic but a close up of it and the Norden’s electric slats.

Not my thing, but have a look at Mike Pateys Scrappy on yougoob. His slotted slat mechanism is a real thing of beauty.

I know they will scare the hell out of you if they deploy when you are not expecting it!

Check out the guys in alaska who are restarting Helio production. Watched a neat video about them digitizing the original blueprints into CAD drawings with plans to make new parts and new planes. I wish them the best, but I'd like to see it sold as a kit.
