Looks like an Engstrom. Miracle passenger survived night in the cold high desert. Anyone have more information?

This didn't make the local news here in Boise, even though it lists the pilot as being from Eagle.

FAA site indicates N280F is a 1981 Enstrom 280F.

Sad outcome, but it could have ended worse given >10 hours daughter awaited help while seriously injured.

Would be interesting to learn if the helicopter and/or occupants had any type of operable emergency beacon available (14 CFR 91.207 only requires U.S.-registered civil airplanes to have an operable ELT).

Good point.

I decided not to include a 91.207 ELT in R44 order. Instead:

(1) EPIRB per person in vests
(1) InReach
(1) ADSB out (amazing tracking with no privacy)

Also, I wear heavy outer garments plus cold weather survival gear in cab.
