Help identifying amphibs

We picked up some amphib floats for our 'amateur built' stinson 108-3.. They look to be either the 'right' size, or 'a little too big' for our o470 stinson. We are trying to figure out what type/manufacturer they may be (No data plates). I thought they looked like PK floats, but talked with a guy from there, and they seem to think they aren't PK's. Someone said 'murphy's' but i didn't think murphy ever made an amphib this size (they look like they are somewhere between 2800-3600's, by my most approximate guess.) They may be 'reskinned', because someone used poprivets on them. Someone tried to tell us that they where 'one offs' which i find really hard to believe, because there is way too much engineering involved in these, and they look 'way too professional'. But anyways, here are some pictures for you guys. You can click on each individual picture to make it bigger.

They look like PK floats to me.
I don't know what size though.

Re: Help identifying amphibs

that was my thoughts also.. If they are PK's they are probably the 3500's, because the smaller 3050A's seem to be a 'new product. i don't know how many years the 3050's have been produced for(i don't think anyone would of reskinned floats if they've only been produced for 5 years). I have a feeling these floats are going to be too big for the project, but we'll have to see, when i actually start working on that part of the project. I figure if i fill up the 'compartments' with packing peanuts, and then dump the packing peanuts into a 'box' that i know the dimensions of, then I'll be able to figure out the 'floats displacement' and then I'll for sure know if these are too big for our project. I was just hoping that someone would be able to say 'for sure' what they where, that way i could find a supplier of any missing parts, that i don't have (Like the front castering wheels)

Re: Help identifying amphibs

Those are definitely NOT PeeKay floats. Look at the nose gears. PeeKay never used that style nose strut. Also, the bottoms are shaped different.

They MIGHT be Montana floats, as in homebuilts. That main gear and hydraulic lines look like a homebuilt not a certified float.

Re: Help identifying amphibs

Talked with Keith from Montana Floats. They aren't his floats, but he informed me they look a lot like 'Easy Lift Floats' From Quebec... A quick google, and on Barnstormers there are pictures of 3000lbs 'straight' floats, that look very very similar... Thanks for the help guys, for sending me to Montana. Keith says that he may be able to help me modify the floats to attach his 'front gear' onto, but i need to provide him with more detailed pictures, to assess.

Keith's a good guy, helluva hand, and sharp on floats!! (not to mention, he's sort of my "neighbor", being only 60 miles away!) =D>

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!

Re: Help identifying amphibs

Hi MMartin, The floats you show there are Easylift. They are a copy of the Aqua 3526 modified to amphibian, they are good floats. I have a brand new pair of them of my Experimental C185.

Re: Help identifying amphibs

I was wondering if someone could help me with some information, as I am considering making an 'amateur built' Stinson 108-3. From the form MMartin is currently working on one and I was hoping to get some info on dealing with MDRA? I currently have a Stinson 108-3 and 200 hrs on it with floats, awesome machine.
