A few weeks ago, Sporty's Pilot Shop ran a contest on their Facebook page trying to find the best picture that describes "Why I Fly". Well, it wasn't hard to find the right picture that helps portray Why I Fly, so I posted it, and today I made it to the finals!!!

Background story: Before I took this picture, I had no idea what the "backcountry" was. Never knew that general aviation had such amazing access to some gorgeous places across this country that many of us help fight to keep open. On this first trip, we headed to Johnson Creek, ID to enjoy the Harmonica Festival.

Since then, I've been doomed. For the next five years, people asked what was meant by the big "I (heart) Yellow Pine" sticker on my suitcase, and inevitably this picture came out to show them why.

Nowadays, we're nearing completion on a restoration of our PA-11 so I can head back and throw that frisbee around again.
