Porthill (Eckhart International) was my selected crossing point. Seemed like a great place to clear customs both ways.
After booking the fishing trip to BC (been twice before - once hunting and once fishing) I thought it kinda funny I was flying over Colorado and Idaho fishing.
The highlight of the trip for me by far was the mountain flying training I took prior to meeting my nephews in Caldwell.
My Final Exam
Without a backup plan in place, and having lost a day of fishing, it seemed the easiest to go back into the Idaho backcountry and teach my nephews how to fly fish, which is exactly what I did. We stayed at Flying B Ranch and fished the Salmon River. Not spectacular fishing, we each caught/released about 10 fish a day, mostly cutbows, but my nephews did learn to fly fish and seemed to enjoy themselves.
And Idaho is beautiful country with great people.
