All:
I have always wondered what that "bell shape" part is ... on the front of those cubs. I have included an image ... since a picture is worth a thousand words.
Any, and all, insight would be greatly appreciated!

Missile and pod.
Actually it is the air intake, filter and cap. Some cubs have been modified and have a square bracket filter instead. You can't beat the round though, especially if your operating on floats.

Fly It Like You Mean It!
Supercubber (and Zane) ... thanks kindly ... now I know.
However, I am still a little confused. Please reference the image below. If the "bell shape" object is the air intake, filter and cap. What is the small, rectangular screen just above it ... another air intake and filter?
Thanks!

It's the stock oil cooler (a little radiator). Again, you may see some cubs without this as some have been modified with a rear mounted oil cooler....mostly the 180 hp cubs. But you have to look closely as the Super Cubs came with a little plate that the pilot manually slides over the oil cooler opening when operating at air temperatures of 40 degrees F and below.
And before you ask....behind the little round hole above and to the right of the oil cooler in the picture is the starter.

Supercubber ... thanks kindly for the information.
Also ... I was just
thinking about it ... I was really not planning to ask about the starter.
