Hey Jomac.

I sent you this email a few weeks back but it might have gotten into your spam files. I am planning my trip over to IDA for the airshow and would like to finalize some plans.

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Hi, As you might know I am basically a full time contractor over here in Jackson Hole. The building season is real short and I have a few pretty big jobs that need to get foundations poured, walls built and roofs on before the snow flies. The way my schedule has played out this summer my trip to OSH is 99.9% a washout. To get my fill of airshows I am going to attent the I.F. airshow.

Bear with me here as I am thinking out loud.

After witnessing the impressive drawing potential my plane at OSH, be it the BRIGHT paint job, or the V-8 under its cowling it does have a huge ability to get people to migrate to it. Positioning it close to your booth should help foot traffic through your display area and possibly increase sales in this "less then wonderful' economy. I am not sure if this is even possible based on your display area. If you are inside the flight line, just outside of it with a way to get me the logistics might me a doable thing. If they have you out in the vehicle parking lot with no gate close to be able to have me get through then we can dismiss this whole concept. I would be more then willing to try to create a increased foot count for you in hopes it will generate sales for you guys.

Thoughts ?????

Wow Ben, cool idea for sure. we will be inboard for sure, and i'm thinking most of us will be at the red baron side, i'll see if i can get u some room for sure. i'll call tomorrow and see what the layout looks like, i have planned to have 7-10 ranger and 4-wheeler product there, along with the appropriate tents, etc.
we are also supplying the officials and pilots with transportation vehicles while at the airshow...

Thanks for the offer Jomac!! But I'll be in Monterey that weekend for the big Moto GP/AMA Superbike races. Trust me though, I'd rather be at your airshow than work. But, I gota work.

My question also: what are the times for locking down the airport for gen av fly-ins, and when does it open back up?
Will pilots who fly in be charged the same as the ground pounders?

Re: Hey Jomac.

best info is on the website i think....gates open 9 am show from 12-3....flying in before and after shouldn't be a big deal...aeromark end(south) is where u can park...should be a good one, as they are expecting 15-30000 for attendance!

At Glacier International a few years back they had the Thunderbirds, and all gen av traffic was diverted the day of the show, the entire day, to the older way more user friendly Kalispell Airport. And then TO GET TO THE AIRSHOW THEY WANTED THE PILOTS JUST FORCED TO LAND AT KALISPELL TO BOARD SHUTTLE BUSES AND GO THROUGH THE GATES JUST LIKE THE GROUND POUNDERS!!! Hahaha, I made other plans for that weekend, ended up at Moose Creek I think, and didn't have to ride a shuttle bus to get there.

Point is, any pilots including myself better do their homework as to getting in and out, my guess is probably shut down from 8 am to 4 pm or something like that.....A call to the tower or Aeromark is in order, the website is for the gen public info. Part of the price you pay to see the best in the world I guess.

I just called, no answer, too early, I'll keep on it and let you know.

Re: Hey Jomac.

I park my plane by the Red Baron and I got a letter from Aeromark saying they were going to have all the booths and stuff on the east side and I'd have to move my plane. They said they would move it for me but the last time airport personnel moved my plane they damaged it.

I'm moving the plane to a fiends hayfield...don't want it anywhere near the knuckle heads that show up at airshows. Should be a pretty fun event though.

Re: Hey Jomac.

Let me know on the details of the final layout. My plane only has a 30' wingspan so it fits in some pretty tight spots. I have a Young Eagles event over here in Driggs on Sat so it is all shined up to dazzle the parents. :^o Thanks for the offer on those freebie tixs, no matter what happens for your display put me down for 2 of those puppies and if my plane is able to fit into your showcase then the hangar space for Sat night would be ideal.

Tailwinds,

Ben
