High heat silicone tape
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
I've got a SCAT tube that runs very close to my exhaust. The exhaust is wrapped with an exhaust wrap that is abrasive to the SCAT tube and will wear a hole through it. The engine is tightly cowled and there really isn't anyplace else that I can run this tube. Generally I have used the high temp RTV to hold things in place. Has anyone used any type of high temperature silicone tape near the exhaust? Mainly want to wrap the SCAT tube for added protection and to hold it out of the way. I was thinking about something like this: Permatex 82112 Self-fusing Silicone Tape
Any recommendations of what I can use? Thanks!!

I've used more of that self-fusing silicon than I can count, in Phantoms, radio towers, cars, and there's some of it in my Cessna. Works great for a lot of stuff. If you're sure it won't go over the 200-degree spec. it should be fine.

Gravity Strikes Again.
What size is the scat tube? I would consider wrapping a few inches of it with fire sleeve.

Curious as to how long you've been running exhaust wrap. I work with an old tymer DER from time to time who always says that wrap is the best way to meet an engine fire.
No real personal experience other than his grey beard wisdom.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to go ahead and use the high temp RTV. I'll position it out of the way and goop it up good. Temporarily tie it in the position it needs to be.
