High Sierra Fly-in 2016 PLEASE REGISTER @ www.stoldrag.com

Due to overwhelming numbers, the boss has made me create a registration form. Caterers are in need of exact numbers attending.

Please go on to the link provided and sign up for this years HSF.

All STOL Drag and Traditional STOL competitors must sign up as well with a separate email on the link provided. We have some serious contenders coming this year and space will be limited to both events. Again, as a competitor, please send me an email to my [email protected] if you plan on competing.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in the desert!

Here is the link: http://www.stoldrag.com/events/hsf2016

THANK YOU!

Hey Kevin. I will be there weather permitting. Oregon the end of October is a crap shoot. When is the drop dead date for per-registration for the caterers ? I can see the weather out about 10 days.

Cheers...Rob

No drop dead date. Just trying to get a good honest head count!

Hope it works for you Rob!

October has grounded me for "Days and Days..." on the coast in the past. I'm doing the "Jed Clampett" routine, loading up the truck, heading to California and the HSF.

Fall starts today and the "Storm Season" is upon us (especially OR, NorCal).

So to sign up we just have to do the PayPal thing, or is there more? Got the part about email direct for Stol drag etc., just making sure didn't miss something else for basic registration.

Is breakfast being catered at BODAD Friday morning or is it walking distance to a breakfast joint?

Im taking the motorhome to Az late Oct. for the Copper State flyin. I might start a week early and stop by the HSF. I had such a good time last year. I hope the stars line up, and I can get my act together and make it !

Re: High Sierra Fly-in 2016 PLEASE REGISTER

Somebody was looking for a tip on what type of tent to bring, i've camped in that region for many years and will sometimes be surprised by the severity of the winds that come up...it's just like a sheepherders tent but now Cabela's offers one called "outback lodge tent" at 10'+10' it Waighs in at 16lbs ...well worth the extra weight it will not blow around, OH and don't forget to bring maybe 6 or 8 12" steel steaks and rope for aircraft Anchorage...as the wind can blow!!

The desert is in superb shape. Cool mornings (mid 40's) warm days. Getting close! The is "Outlook" just north of Dead Cow. You can see DC in the background along with Pyramid lake and "the watering hole".

Re: High Sierra Fly-in 2016 PLEASE REGISTER @ www.stoldrag.c

Some wet and windy weather is coming through this weekend here in the Sierras.

The mountains generally take out all of the pricip and the winds dry and help with blowing the rain away and polishing the lake bed surface.

The lake bed is really in the shadow of the mountains and does not see the moisture like the higher elevations to the west.

Current forecast is looking great for our fly-in.

PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN TO REGISTER (EVEN IF YOUR NOT COMPETING IN ANY OF THE STOL EVENTS.) AT WWW.STOLDRAG.COM

Registering here is great, but if you can please register on the www.stoldrag,com site that really helps for our number planning.

ALSO make certain to read all of the pilot information. SEE AND AVOID, USE YOUR RADIOS! The Runway will be well marked!

Powered Paragliders have there own landing area closer to the camp areas. Make certain you know where they are! Its on the pilot info map.

Don't fly over the camps ever!

See you soon!!!

Just a friendly reminder about Fall in the High Desert. Gusts to 50 Knots this morning. But, drier being in the leeward mountains. The "Pineapple Express" is warming up the place too.

Re: High Sierra Fly-in 2016 PLEASE REGISTER @ www.stoldrag.c

Very strong winds, some rain, generally not flying weather now.. Remember, AKT has a special relationship with Mother Nature..
There is no doubt that the weather will be optimal for the event. Maybe 70 to 75 highs, about 40 for a low, light afternoon breeze.
Visibility unlimited and perfect desert air. That dry air cools rapidly at sundown so prepare for that.
Drive in conditions will be posted about Tuesday but the outlook for problems is extremely doubtful.
BODAD is 1000 feet higher than DC and the actual strip is a hair over 1000 feet. Be sure to hear Kevin's briefing Friday AM before going to the Breakfast.
Can't see how this year could be better than last year but everyone is betting that it will be.
