Alex wrote:It was a wild ride home for me too. After taxiing about a mile to takeoff on a taxiway pointed into the wind, the wind shifted and became more of a crosswind. I went for it anyway and it was a handful; but I managed to get airborne quickly without any damage. Then I slowly picked my way to Bend meandering between shafts of rain and snow. It was an adventure to say the least.

First we got forced down at Sunriver, so we got lunch. Then we headed towards the gorge and Terry went VFR on top and headed home. It got so nasty close to Madras we said screw it and stayed at my place by the lake. It was the right call. Monday was a easy flight back to valley base.

Cheers

Thanks very much to the organisers and benefactors of the Fly-In.
This was my first of hopefully many. Great opportunity to stretch ones flying/landing and judgement skills in a neat environment of community support.
Can't get exposure to this kind of flying many places.
I was the silver 170 in the desert and am newly registered here.

Hey Rob, don't feel one bit bad about that landing, you were just caught in the act... The rest of us were just sighing relief that it wasn't us.. And it could have very easily been any one of us.. That spot is actually one of the most technical places a guy could land a plane.. I would ride with you any time and any place...!!!!!!!
