High Wing Shade

When at Austin Nevada this last August for what is just about the best fly in ever, we found our way under the wing of one plane or another to stay out of the sun. Image Low wing experimental guys must have no friends. :D :D :D

Seems that we needed a biger wing than anybody had. Either sombody needs to upgrade to a DC3 or I need some cloth wing extentions. Need to make the wing deeper, not longer, that way as the sun moves, we do not need to pivot under the wing. Anybody out there have any great ideas. Water shedding properties would be nice also.

My tail number is still to big #-o

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Here's an idea. Sorry that the publik school system failed you, but you really ought to read up on Copernicus's new and controversial theories for a heliocentric solar system. Once you catch up to the 1500s and realize that the shadow moves because of the rotation of the earth and not the motion of the sun, you can align your plane with the poles (either due N or due S), and then the shadow will only move at the wingtips, and you won't have to move your chairs for the vast majority of the day. :D

Not to quibble dude, but this is only true two days of the year, spring and fall equinox. The other 363 days aligning the wings east west will minimize the distance you have have to move the chairs, but they will still need to be moved. :)
