For those of you that don't know. You have to sign up for Hot Air. Hot Air is not a place for panzies, or those easy ally offended. It is a place for straight, blunt talk. #-o

If you know your subject is political, or HOT, just start it there. If a thread starts of and gets to hot, Zee Wee will nudge it to Hot Air.

I SUPPORT ZANE IN THIS AREA! =D>

I have probably had more post moved to Hot Air than anybody. It is ok too. I am trying to put stuff there from the start if I know that is where it will end up. :^o

So come 1 come all, over to the dark side AKA Hot Air. [-X

Re: Hot Air

I've got be realistic and go with Zane here, The written word can be powerful. (example)I did not speak to my best friend for a week because he called me an asshole in an Email reply. It offended me greatly. Then, upon reflection, I realized the he probably refers to me as something unpleasant at least 3 times a day, and means no harm by that. Without the face, inflection, and tone, misunderstandings are almost guaranteed. Why else would we use these retarded "emoticons" :x
I am a VERY opinionated political bigot, and I still would like to eventually meet some of the people here that I have disagreed with...
I also make the effort to get to Hot Air now and then to keep the blood pressure up.

Thanks, Zane for dealing with all of our differing opinions for this site. I appreciate it.

Re: Hot Air

Wow, this is an old thread, but it does show the sordid history we've had with political topics around here. The current system works pretty well I think. Hot Air threads show up in the View Active Topics list if you are part of the Hot Air group. Rob will be awarded a trophy at the fly-in this year for most threads moved to Hot Air. Everyone congratulate him if you see him.

As for which threads get moved to Hot Air... There are a few criteria.

1) Original post is a non-aviation oriented topic that deals with a controversial political issue.
2) Topic has gone seriously off-topic into political territory where keywords like "left," "right," "liberal," "conservative," "obama," "cheney," "socialist," etc begin to pop up.

I apologize if some of you think this is contrived and the forum should be unmoderated, but an equal number appreciate the organization and filtering. I do my best to be impartial and I do not participate in Hot Air threads. I also like having a login required to see these topics because I do not want this website to attract attention from Google search results for anything not related to aviation. I do not particularly enjoy managing this aspect of the forum, but I want our first impression on new visitors to be all-aviation oriented. Thanks for playing along.

BTW I split this thread because policy is different now and all the old posts made it confusing.

Re: Hot Air

Well, I'm pretty conservative, so before every takeoff, I check the mags. Left, then right. Sometimes, if the plugs are fouled, the engine makes that obama-obama-obama[/b] noise. Usually, I can clear it up with liberal use of the mixture control, but if not, it's back to the tiedown cheneys...oh, forget it.

Re: Hot Air

I think Hot Air is one of those things that you like, but don't know why.
Example 1
You land in the backcountry, set up camp and are getting into the vittles when your buddy takes a swig off his bottle, starts caughing and getting red in the face. He hands the bottle to you and says "that is terrible stuff", just about the time you are knocking it back also.

Example 2
Your 5 minutes after take off from camp and heading to your favorite backcountry breakfast stop, when you see your buddy sit forward in his seat. He then sits back and says "oh boy that is a ripe one". Knowing that last nights dinner was mostly Kentucky grain sweat and Cheetos, you take a big sniff and try not to gag.

Some people will read this and be upset that they just wasted 2 minuted of their life. Some people will read this and think excitedly of next summer. Some people will let their dog lick their face, even though it eats the other dogs poop. Because of all that, we need Hot Air. I for one think it is a good way to solve that problem.

Dam I love that dog.
