While we’re bashing tech, I’d LOVE to dump my smartphone!

For float plane ops I have navionics, full marine charts and crowd sourced info too from anyone running a sounder
I got a Wi-Fi battery sounder, there’s a post about it on here somewhere
I took my canoe out to a river I wasn’t too sure about as no one landed there and there weren’t many boats bigger than a kayak on it, suction cupped the sounder on, linked to my phone, paddled alway with a 6 pack and a friend and the sounder painting away, made a full bathymetric chart of the river, which made picking my line for landing my 185 much easier and safer

Would like to hear more about this.
I'm pretty oblivious about marine ops/charting, yet I have an amphib.
I don't know what a sounder is.
With that said, is there an app and an external Bluetooth device to "map" out depths of an area of a body of water?
Thanks
