Most people become a CFI to build time but how do you build Seaplane and Tailwheel time?
Thanks,
Sara

You buy a small, relatively cheap tailwheel aircraft that is capable on floats and you fly the hell out of it. You have to at the insurance rate you will first get for floats. Then pray that you've flown it enough that they powers that be will drop your rates the next year! That's what I did anyway.
Matt
P.S. There's a REALLY sweet looking champ for sale with floats available!

Yep, that's what I am doing or should I say started to do. I bought a Champ on floats and put on 43 hours last summer in a mater of less than 2 months. Been trying to put time on this summer but so many other commitments have come up. Only have 10 hrs. so far this summer.
A buddy of mine has his 7CCM Champ listed on ebay. He has floats and skis available for it also. It is a very nice Champ. If interested let me know.

What Matt said above.
My first plane was a Piper PA-20 pacer. Still cheap today and will teach you how to fly a TW airplane. Take care of it and you can sell it for what you paid for it.

Did the same thing, bought a 172 taildragger with a 180HP and put it on floats in the summer and flew on wheels in the winter. After several trips to Florida from Maine, decided I needed something bigger and faster. I ended up with a beefed up 180. Now look at me while I'm in debt, flying by 180 for pleasure and a 185 & Beaver for hire.

I think you and I may have parallel lives.

Hi sst,
Towing banners is a pretty good way to gain tons of TW time in a relatively quick manner. Towing gliders is a good way to mass up the TW take/off and landing cycles, but typically not as much flight time...
If you have a CFI you could try getting on doing instruction at somewhere like Shebles or Kenmore where in time you could move into the cub on floats.
good luck!
Take care, Rob
