How do you usually watch movies?

Pretty obvious reasoning behind this poll. I personally watch everything via electronic delivery, from Netflix or iTunes, to Vimeo and Youtube. I haven't bought a DVD in probably 4 years, and have never bought a Blu-ray disc.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

I am not blessed where I live with good high speed Internet. YouTube and Vimeo can be frustratingly slow. My only options are dial up, satellite, or (my choice) a cellular linked router.

I watch movies mostly on directv (pay per view or movie channels) or standard DVD. I have a HDTV but do not use the feature, and do not own a blue ray player.

I checked "Other" for Netflix. It's my primary method of watching movies and TV shows.

I also checked "DVD" and "Bluray" because we do still buy a lot of movies for offline viewing. Movies are our primary source of down time entertainment so we have a lot of both at this point.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

It has been dvds but is slowly moving to iTunes. Offline viewing is actually important to me since i commute across the country or want things available in flight for the kids to watch. We dont do any streaming type of video.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

We use the senior discount at the theater and go mid week when the place is empty!

At home... Dish HD, and Apple TV to run Netflix, You Tube, etc. We are really happy with the Apple TV, the streaming in HD so far has been flawless. I can't remember last time I stuffed a DVD into the BluRay player. And VHS, they're all in the big box in the garage with the 8 tracks.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

We stream most things, and if we do get a movie from Netflix or Redbox it's blu-ray or nothing! Our home theater that I built when I finished our basement a couple of years ago is wired for steaming, downloading, blu-ray, or satellite. So it doesn't matter how you deliver the project your working on, as long as it's HD.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

Zzz: I would personally dig an offline option to view films. I would find it useful in airports with no WiFi, hotels with terrible connection speeds, and when I commute in the jet.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

If your trying to fiqure out what format to deliver the '' EVENT'' to interested parties globally. I think it should be something that is flexable, ie a dvd with vob files is diffcult to play on most hand held devices. Perhaps delivering on a dvd but in a more common digital format such as avi or mov , leaves options for those to convert the file to any format they choose to suit their individual devices.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

Most of the 'electronic' movies I have I bought through Amazon Instant Video, not Prime. If there's a DVD I want I go to the 2nd hand video/ music store here in town.

Re: How do you usually watch movies?

The one I am looking at currently is the Vimeo On Demand service. It would allow you to rent a movie for a low price (like $5) to stream for a limited time, or buy it and download it to own permanently for a higher price (??) That would allow you to put it on your mobile device of choice (or all of them if you like.) If you've ever used iTunes you're familiar with this price model.

My gripe with iTunes is that if you have an iPad and you buy a movie from iTunes, you can download it to 5 devices, all of which must be iTunes compatible. If you have an Android or Surface tablet, there are ways to get the content you've purchased, but they are either workarounds or they don't work well.

Anyway, we'll see... this is new territory for me but I am excited.
