I have been trapping them. Guns aren't a option because it is on a school campus. any suggestions?

I always used a live trap with a long rope attached to pull it out of the building, then shoot it in the trap. Drowning it is optional. I have heard you can throw a blanket over the trap and they won't spray, but cannot confirm that.

Is there a food source? I had problems with Coons for a while. Found out they were eating dog food. Got rid of the food source and trapped all the juveniles and they haven't been back for a while.

Maybe vote them out of office?

Skunks love eggs. Maybe put somethng a little extra in the eggs.

Leave a trail of Purina Cat chow leading to a mound set in the middle of a nearby busy road, a-la-roadrunner/coyote style. It perfectly replicates their prevailing natural cause of death.

If they are in an enclosed area such as under a building, throw some moth balls in the space. that will also get rid of black widow spiders, wasps, and quite a few other undesirable critters.

If they are not under a building and just down a hole then run a garden hose in as far as you can and pour down a couple bottles of household ammonia. If you just pour it down close to the opening they will back out and cover it up with dirt to stop the smell. With the hose down in, it burns their eyes and makes it hard to breathe so they come out. Have a live trap ready at the hole to catch them and thread the hose down through the wire. Then have a rope already tied to the trap and pull it away to another location where you can shoot it or if it turns out you enjoy this you can do a catch and release.

make a box trap out of plywood, they wont spray in an enclosed area, bate it with an egg then haul them out of town and apply 12ga. you can cary them around in the trap no problem.

ps dont open the trap to close to your truck when doing the 12ga part or they will run under it ...I hear.

Went through this last year at our house. Moth balls don't work, pinesol doesn't either. The best way is get a trap and cover it on at least one side with cardboard or plywood so after you trap it you can sneak up on it. Throw a blanket over top and wrap it up. Now you have a way to transport the skunk without it spraying.

Biggest thing is to eliminate the nest area or food source.

My Grandma used to tell of a widow that had some skunks under her porch. She'd tried everything to get rid of them, but they wouldn't leave. So, she asked the preacher after Sunday service if he knew how to get them gone without shooting them. He told her to put some Lutefisk under there, and they'd move right out. The next week he asked her how that went and she told him, "yah, I put the Lutefisk under there and right away, the skunks disappeared.... but now how do I get rid of all the darned Norwegians?"

In all seriousness, we use a live trap with dry cat food as bait. Once they're in there, get an old tarp or blanket and hold it up in front of you as you walk up, then cover the trap with it. They wont spray when it's covered, and you can carry it down to the water and give them a swim. That's the only way I know of to kill them without having everything smell like a skunk forever.

One of my neighbors had a skunk take up residence under the house. He found a broken screen at one of the crawlspace vents where it had gained access, and installed a small doggie-door there, modified for one-way-only operation. The next time Mister Skunk went out for dinner, he couldn't get back in & had to find somewhere else to live. Kinda like changing the locks on a deadbeat tenant.
