Husky - C180 & C172 in Florida For Winer Season
Information and discussion about seaplanes, float planes, and water operations.
Anyone going to Florida on vacation this winter, we have these 3 planes available for SES ratings, recurrent training and backcountry lake tours in Florida, plus our airboats for some real fun. We are located at Cherry Pocket Fish Camp & Resturaunt , Lake Wales.

How long will you be in Florida for this season? I'm pretty tied up through February. Will you still be there in March?
My wife has a thing for Huskys but she isn't a pilot and I've never flown one. This might be a good way for us to check out the Husky to see if we like it and get a seaplane refresher for me at the same time. I got the rating a couple of years ago from that J3 operation just north of you... well, you know what kind of training I got.... and haven't used it since so I wouldn't mind a little training anyway.
When will you go back north?

-48F here this week, and this morning the radio reports that it's about to get cold.
Florida has kind of a nice ring to it right now.

Keith, till end of april, 4-5 hours in a j3, i know a minimal SES ticket. I tell people they get what they pay for. I think you will like the Husky, i have flown many of them along with Scouts and SCubs, they are all fine and the fun factor is there.
80 now at the Cherry Pocket!

Yeah, DP, I just left Anchorage yesterday. It wasn't quite that cold but it was hovering around 0. Piles of snow around Girdwood. A little trip to FL might be just what you need. You better make one more post... the one above says you have made 999.
Brian... I would like to splash around a bit in the Husky... My schedule doesn't look too good right now but maybe I can squeeze it in in March. I'll be in touch.

What is the closest strip to get to you on wheels? Wouldnt mind a few hrs in the Husky.

The Husky is based at Winterhaven, KGIF, 554 lakes in Polk county to splash on and some good outback lakes we fly where we go airboating to get away from the city lakes. Lake county is just north of us with many more lakes, not a bad winter playground, but nothing like northern MN, Ontario, Manitoba and furhter north where we fly in the summer.
