I almost forgot how much fun floats can be!

Took a little trip with the Mrs. to Victoria,B.C. this past weekend. On the way we ended up having to ride the T-single Otter with Kenmore due to Horizon cancelling flights with the Dash 8 fold-up gear. The Otter ride was so damn fun that I ended up springing for a 180 for an hour to cruise the San Juans and then jump back across the line to shoot a few landings in the Gulf Islands! It had been a solid eleven years since I flew my last floats (scenic tours in San Francisco in a Beaver, Pier 39 and Mill Valley) and I miss it. I only wish I could spray on floats. Oh, and that southern Idaho wasn't a desert.
Oh well, it's back to the blender in BOI today, at least they have that same fun edge to them.

If you're not scarin' yourself, you're not scarin' the crowd!

Lowflyin,

Hey, get in touch with Wipaire. They've got an AT-802 on amphibious floats rigged to scoop. Sounds like it would fulfill all your requirements.

There's two of the Wipaire "Firebosses" based about 30 miles up the east coast at Tortoli on Sardinia. I didn't get a chance to look close but worked a couple of fires along with them. Impressive. They are from Spain. Nice guys too.

fun on floats

Lowflyin'G3: I was both shocked and pleased to read something on this site concerning floatflying. Glad you enjoyed your trip with Kenmore Air. I have had to suffer thru this summer flying only floats while reading all the fun spots everybody has been flying to on wheels. By suffering, I mean that I have been flying into remote lakes with nobody else around and therefore, nobody to BS with except my wife who has heard all my stories.

The semi-good news is that I will be back on wheels around the middle of October and may have to opportunity to visit some of the places reported by others.

A side note, go to the Baja Bush Pilots site and there is a link to who to write to concerning the Home Land Security fiasco. Later, Ford
