I got selected for the Army Experimental Test Pilot program!! I'm about to call and set up the timeline from this point forward so no dates yet, but I'll be heading back to Rucker for a military MEL and some other stuff, then to Patuxent River NAS for the Test Pilot School!

I've been pretty tied up for the last few months with the assessment phases, but we finally got the official news yesterday in an email! I'd have read it earlier but we spent 7 hours floating the Chena, hahaha.

So until the tough training starts and I get sucked away from here again, I should be around more often!

Congratulations. I was the Maintenance Test Pilot for the Cobra at 1107th AVCRAD in the Missouri NG a long time ago. Experimental sounds like a whole different deal. Have fun.

Wow. What a terrific promotion! I guess the greatest thing about being a military pilot is you get to play with all that expensive equipment. Now you get to play with the stuff and try to break it!

You will love the professionalism of your group. Be proud, but after a few months, you begin to wonder if this is not the dumbest job I've ever had. Stuff breaks, all the time. You get really good at emergencies. By the time I got my civilian equivalency, they asked about my single engine time; is that with one engine installed or only one working? I had more time with only one working by then. Landing with crash crew in attendance is normal, getting towed off the runway is as common as taxiing back.

In spite of it all, you will love it.
