Re: I Hope This Wasn't Posted Already?

He may be that arrogant or it may be good Hollywood editing. Without seeing the uncut conversation there is not way to tell if he was saying it in jest or what the original question may have been. He says he is a great pilot while laughing and he says that he makes it a point to tell his girls that he loves them each day as it may be his last. Not exactly the comment of a completely arrogant pilot. We should reserve judgement until we see the full video.

From Desiderata...

As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexatious to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

I'll think I'll just avoid...

If this really makes it to Discovery or some other channel, it will be big. The public loves this stuff, DRAMA DRAMA DRAMA, & a big dose of Ego. Good for him for getting his own show, I just hope it won't reflect poorly on you bush pilots, the more humble, competent breed of you.

I like watching the logging, fishing & trucking shows for what they do & how they do it. Its the editing & drama they wrap the plot around that makes it hard to watch sometimes.

I remember a CFIG that I was getting instruction that said the same thing once or something like that, he said " there are no good pilots here except me" I couldn't believe my ears. About 3-4 years later after exiting a cloud and impacting Hot Springs Peak in a SGS 2-32 with 2 passengers in the back of the glider he took a tree branch through the for head. The passengers survived being trapped in the wreckage overnight, he died instantly. I really don't think modesty would have saved him.

I enjoyed the Ax Men series, one outfit was located pretty close to home. The logging part was interesting enough, they didn't need to add all the drama- yelling & cussing at the rookies, etc.

Re: I Hope This Wasn't Posted Already?

I think his name is Joe, I spoke to him before....not really standing up for him but he seemed nice enough. I'm sure the video was a bit out of context but just like that "Ice Pilots" show, they needed to make it much more intense for the sake of making things more interesting to others. Looks kinda neat I suppose, good cub footage at least ! :)
