You might only need to climb out and extra 2-3000 feet to warm up. :) Get in that plane.

IFR...doh. I like to call that condition "The Degobah System."

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

I apologize for doing this to you but I've been hanging in San Diego where it has been in the "80's" all week. No preheat required. There is a big high ps built up in the west and you could come down with a tailwind the whole way.

Warmer sounds good to me.
It's here. I flew a 2.5 hour route this afternoon. minus -5 in Dayton, plus
+5 on the farm when I got back. 20 mph winds. 7 inches of snow that was fluffy, so it wasn't bad for T&L. Tomorrow, I have to fly an 8 hour route and it is forecasted to be minus -10 here at the farm plus 25 mph winds. ....oh boy. I think I will pay the extra charge for "full service" gas. jg

WINTER Poem

It's winter in Ohio And the gentle breezes blow Seventy miles an hour At twenty-five below.

Oh, how I love Ohio When the snow's up to your butt You take a breath of winter And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful So I guess I'll hang around I could never leave Ohio I'm frozen to the ground!

I thought is was chilly here in SC when i was on the 7th fairway and had to don a sweatshirt. 52 degrees for our high, 20 for the low. I have come a long way from my Michigan roots...lol
It is chilly when its windy and not sunny. From My experience, cold is cold past a certain point. Dry cold air is cold, your frozen nose and hands, toes cant tell the difference past a certain point. Thats why its easy to get frost bite and not know it until you thaw out!

I hate the cold! I rather be hot, without a/c!

And I forgot to bring the brass monkey in last night!

I only got as far south as Omaha today. It was cold there too, but not as bad as home. Airplane climbed so fast that Minneapolis centers computer couldn't track our climb progress. Under 15000 feet we saw 5-6,000 fpm sustained.

Beautiful day today.

I took off at 7:30 AM, at minus -15 and a 15 mph wind. Temp stayed there for the first two hours, while the winds increased. I put 7.8 hours on the tach, all at 500 feet AGL. maybe 30 minutes of those hours the temp was up to +5, then dropped back to minus -5.

My strip has a base of 7-8 inches of unplowed snow.... and drifts. Still getting out and in ok with wheels.
