Weather looks good for once.
From the UBCP:
This spring, our annual Ibex Fly-In and lunch will be held on Saturday, May 3. Usually some people come on Friday to camp. The weather looks like it will be cooperating this year (see link below). As has become tradition, UBCP will bring brats and hamburgers for lunch on Saturday. Some have brought a pot luck item, but this is not mandatory. Everyone - pilots, friends and family are welcome.
UBCP President Steve Durtschi was at Ibex earlier in the week and reports that the area is dry and in great condition with out any new hazards.
A few more details about the area:
Ibex is in a MOA. You can contact Clover Control on 134.1 for activity status. The dried lake bed provides a huge area to land an airplane but it does have hazards. Since the surface is so featureless and there are no runway edges it can be hard to judge your height over the surface and to detect sideways drift when landing. The UBCP database calls the area Ibex but Galen Hanselman refers to it as the Tule Valley Hardpan in his book.
