Ideas for camping in or around Coeur D'Alene, ID
Not necessarily information about airstrips or airports, but more general info about a greater area or a route of flight.
Hi all, My wife and I are going to be traveling to Bonney Lake, WA (Tacoma area) to visit our daughter and her family. Unfortunately we will be traveling by car (since the plane is not annualled yet), and we will be driving I-90.
We are planning on camping in the Coeur D'Alene area Thursday night the 21st of Aug. and driving the rest of the way on Fri. Does anyone have any amazing camping grounds they know of in that area? We have heard it is a beautiful area but have never been through there before.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Marty

A popular drive in camping area is Farragut State Park on the south shore of Lake Pend Oreille which is 20 mins driving time north of CDA. If you're looking for easy access and a crystal clear lake with scenic mountain backdrop, you might like it. The water is warm enough to swim ( top 3 feet) and the evenings have been quite warm and comfortable. If you want to eat breakfast out, go to the Country Boy Cafe in Athol for a loggers breakfast. Resort town of Bayview is nearby as well as Sandpoint 30mins north.

The suggestion for Farrugut is a good one, and it is even better with a canoe if it interests you. You might be able to find one in CdA for the day.
There are a lot of premo spots along your route in western Montana too that have a lot to offer for a day or two.
