If the 2nd happiest day is..

..the day a pilot buys a plane, what's the day a pilot is dumb enough to buy a 2nd plane?

:D

I abandoned the 170B search, mostly because of finances, and to be frank, a little bit because I'm probably better off with a smaller/cheaper plane to build some skill in.

Bought a Champ :)

Champs are honest, sturdy little airplanes. I've done a lot of spin intros in Champs. I like the landings, with that oleo gear, you get to land twice.....once when you put the tires on the surface, then when the planes "lands" on the gear.

Fun little airplane, and great skill builder.

Congratulations!

Champs are great planes, and yours looks great! The oleo gear is great (same gear on my 7ECA). You're going to have a ball with that airplane!

Fly low & slow!

Love the Champ! ACA makes a new "Champ" too which is simply irresistible. You TCDS is still in good hands!!!

How do you like wheel landings with that oleo gear? I've been doing a little bit of work in a champ lately and the way the strut compresses really messes with my head when doing wheel landings. You really do feel like you land twice.

Great score. My plane was converted to spring gear many years ago. Done incorrectly you can actually get 4-5 landings pretty quickly.

I really like the champs, I finished my license and took my checkride in a 87hp champ! I plan on buy one in the not so distant future. They're fun to fly. Owning multiple airplanes isn't a bad thing

keep them flying!

Re: If the 2nd happiest day is..

As the others have mentioned...nothing wrong with a Champ.I have some of my best flying memories flying the Champ I had. My wife constantly reminds of the bad decision I made the day I sold it. Of the planes I have owned, the Champ was her favorite to ride in even though she prefers side by side seating. Great planes that will teach you a lot about flying.

Hopefully it is a 90HP or better, if so, you'll have a blast!

Great score. I'm just ahead of you a few months, and was received with many of the same "you'll have a blast" greetings when I got my older Citabria.

And they were right. My plane has been completely trouble free so far. The looks on faces when I pump 6-12 gallons into it is one of envy.

These planes are not difficult to fly, but it will also not lift a finger to make you look good. If you truly grease a landing you either earned it or got lucky.
