In a Pickle

Guy and Gals,

I'm in Dothan Alabama on Memorial day weekend. It's Saturday and I tore up my tail wheel Taxing off the runway with a flat. Does anyone have or know where can get a tire and tube for a Monday departure. If so, my Cell number is 410-935-5841. I'm in a pinch and will drive to Moultre if I could contact someone.

Tom - Why not bolt on a 2x4 and just skid your way home??

That might work for a Cessna but on a Maule? 8)

Speaking of Cessnas I PM'd you three numbers for 170 owners down that way. Maybe one of them has a spare or can shoo their mechanic out of their Holiday BBQ long enough to get you something.

Thanks Guys I will check Home Depot, Tractor Supply and Harbor freight tomorrow. Any additional Ideas are welcome. I will try to call the 170 guys tomorrow as well.

Harbor Freight should be your best bet - - usually a good selection of import FAA approved wheels. I'd pick up some washers in case you need them for spacers. Be sure to measure your fork width.

Guys,
The tire is too tore up to get the sixe off the side wall. It is a stock Maule tail wheel. Is this wheel the same on all Maule varations and does anyone have the numbers on the sidewall?

Tom the 8" Maule tailwheel I have has a McCreary 2.80/2.50-4 The hub diameter measures 4 5/8" hope this helps.
