My apolagees,
Why it's right there in plain sight????? All you have to do is hold it on edge and get your glasses out and look, everyone should know to look there.
Sorry to be a little negative and a S.A. ,but why did they put it there? So you could see it!!
I'll shut up now and go back into my cave!

Dollar coins are evil. They won't even stay in a strippers g-string unless you wrap them in chewing gum first. Don't take this crap...send all you dollar coins to me and I'll dispose of them properly.

I have heard of these dollar coins and the reasoning for putting them on the side of the coin was so that it would wear off really quick, so eventually the coin won't have In God We Trust on it. Don't know if its true but it makes sense.

How does that make sense??? Not to start a political debate, but the current administration is hardly lacking in the bible-thumping department. I checked the oldest quarter I could find in my change dish and the edge groves were still very distinct. A conspiracy to have IGWT wear off in a caldron of pocket lint, car keys and other coins seems, well, far fetched.

Regardless, don't take chances. Send that devil-spawn to me and I'll make sure it's exchanged for deity-approved merchandise.

Never underestimate the power of the stripper lobby!

One of theory I've heard the dollar coin has never taken off is that coins are minted by the US Mint and Bills are printed by the Federal Reserve. Many large banks have ownership in the Federal Reserve, a quasi governmental organization but not the US Mint, a government organization. By purchasing dollars from the Reserve instead of the Mint, the banks either make a little money or don't lose as much so they push dollars. I suspect most banks don't like handling the extra weight of coins, either.

Hard dollars

If you do have one of the new dollar coins that DOES NOT have In God We Trust on the rim. Hang on to it. The Collectors are paying top dollar for them. Evidently there was an early run that the rim embossing did not occur.

I, for one, would not mourn the passing of the paper dollar. It costs the treasury more to print the dollar bill than the coin given the paper note's lifetime and visually impaired people can tell the difference between the dollar coin and other coins while a dollar bill feels just like a 5,10,20, 100, etc.

I think our mistake is not giving the coin a cool name. For example how can you not like Loony and Two-ny for one and two dollar coins?

Machines can read coins better than they can bills. How many times have you fed a US bill into a machine and not have it read it and end up hunting all over the place for a "crisp" bill to feed the bleeping thing.

Let's not get started on the usefulness of a penny.

 I like the sound of coins as they come tumbling out of a slot machine! Too bad many of the new machines only accept paper dollars and give out credit slips.
If anyone out there doesn't have any use for their dollar coins, please send them to me...I will convert them into avgas!

First time I visited a "strip club" in Quebec my buds and I were confused about how the dollar coin thing would work as a tip - isn't half the fun snapping a folded bill in the string? Simple yanks that we were, we lined up right along the stage. Didn't take us long to figure out that not a whole lot of dancing took place there and it wasn't long before one of the guys headed off with one of the "dancers" behind the curtain for a private show. Turns out dollar coins don't figure into the equation. Damn those were fun trips...
