In need of a 28 volt battery, suggestions?

The 28 volt battery in my 185 is getting tired, I am looking to buy a high quality battery to replace it with when I go to the States later this month. Do you guys have any suggestions of any on-line companies you have had luck with, who might have the best prices on high quality batteries? I have a business/shipping address in Illinois, so that won't be an issue. Thank you for any thoughts.

Re: In need of a 28 volt battery, suggestions?

The three aerial patrol companies I flew pipeline for used Aviall out of KC or Dallas because of price and quick delivery. Two of the three used the cheaper regular maintenance batteries. Underwood used maintenance free. With Underwood airplanes, I had little battery box cleaning and repair work. With the other two I had continuous cleaning, battery box repair, and finally firewall repair problems.

Maintenance free batteries are expensive. One has to remember to turn the master switch off or they will get really expensive. But battery boxes and firewalls are more expensive.

Concorde sealed. My last one made it 7+ years.

X2 - you beat me to posting - absolutely Concord Platnum. Pay the extra money for the top shelf battery. Starts my hod rod IO-550 with gusto. Almost could taxi on the starter alone. Buy the matching charger that is speced for it and it will last a LONG, LONG Time. I have NO fear of drifting into pilings on hot starts when on floats with this battery. I got my last one from Aircraft Spruce. Competitive pricing.

Thank you for the replies, I am looking into the Concorde battery. I have talked to Spruce (who did not know which Concorde battery the 185F used), was then directed to the Concorde company, who is unsure and will be getting back to me. A lot to go through for a simple battery, if it was a truck it would be a done deal and at 1/3 the cost.

Most battery crossovers are listed right on the Concorde website. http://www.concordebattery.com/aag3.php?id=695

In your case, one of the top two listed in the table linked to above should be the one you want.

Pretty sure the one I just put in my A185F was the RG24-16.

I bought the concord platinum last year, all I can say is that it is working so far. I am not sure it was worth the extra money, but time will tell. As a buddy of mine says "poor people can't afford to buy cheap stuff"

Is there any lightweight battery options for a 24V system?
Has anyone ever installed two Odysseys connected in series?

I finally got confirmation on the Concorde battery, the model # is RG24-15M for my setup. In a similar vein to Hotrod 180's question, I had thought about wiring two Micro jumpstarters in series, would be a lot lighter than my 40lb jumpstart I don't carry because of weight, just need a little extra wiring onboard.

I've seen a couple done on some late models. Beegles has done the conversion.
