Re: In Reach

My brother has used one of these, but if you really want to get the best insight on the unit you should talk to ROB at Team Maine racing, they are sponsored by Delorme and have been using the units for some time and have even been testing features before Delorme releases them to the public. These guys are using them for Endurance races on snowmobiles in the middle of no where (check out Iron Dog and Cains Quest)

To reach Rob go to their web site www.teammaineracing.net

So they have used them in the backcountry on sleds at extreme temps and also had them in aircraft and seem to be happy with the units.

I have one and it works well. The only downside that I can see so far is that to receive a message the unit has to have a reason to contact the satellites. It won't do that just because. So the way to do that is to keep it in tracking mode. That way when it sends its position it will also get any messages waiting for you. Battery life far superior to the SPOT Connect.
