Inertia Reel

With recent chatter about and accident at PAVB and the seat stops, I checked my inertia reel on the pilots seat in my 206 last night and noticed some wear starting on the cable. I talked to another 206 driver and he has the same issue to the point that he unhooked his?????
Is this "Model" specific? Does Cessna have something different now? How do you get a new cable? Any Ideas?

Thanks

Re: Inertia Reel

Get rid of the Cessna harness, and install a set of BAS harnesses. The BAS harnesses are much better designed than the original Cessna harnesses. The BAS system isn't cheap, but it can save a life.

Sorry I should have clarified, I'm talking about the "Safety" inertia reel for the seat rail.

Re: Inertia Reel

Big Horn,
The seat rail safety reil that cesssna had us put in has an
AD already. The day they installed the one in our C180 the
mechanic went through three before finding one that worked.
A year after installation the bullitin came out. They replace it
at no charge to a new design. As far as the cable wearing,
I have not seen that on ours. One of my checks before takeoff
is to try and move the seat back and forth, ensuring it is locked.
