Installing Cessna 182 Wings on a Cessna 180.

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Installing Cessna 182 Wings on a Cessna 180.

A friend of mine here in the Bitterroot Valley wants to install wings from a 1957 182 to his 1954 Cessna 180. His intention was to have slightly more fuel, getting rid of the slant tank. All details work out, no problems with the installation other than he needs to find someone who has previously gotten a field approval for a similar situation in order to get his own field approval.

Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks, Richard.

There is letter from Cessna floating around the net about mixing and matching Cessna wings. Something to the effect that if the donor has a higher or equal gross weight its okay with some limitations. I think I saw it on the 170 site. Might go ask the all knowing George Horn over there.

I've even seen a 180 with a newer 182 wing on the left and an original slant tank on the right. This was back about 1990.

Seems like a lot of work and no doubt money to gain (I think) 5 gallons more fuel capacity.
That's less than half a hour's worth.
