Re: Isurance company obligation

I suggest you read your policy closely and ask that question of your agent. I just got a quote from Avemco and they told me they'd cover me for any thing no mater how stupid and others will not cover you for violating FAR's. So ask you agent and have them point out in there policy any exclusions or perils not covered be specific if necessary.

Last year my Son burnt up a rock crawler out at Salton Sea it was insured. Insurance Co. stepped up to the plate and offered payment -deductible. He accepted their settlement and asked to buy or can I have the salvage their rep replied "it's not in our policy to release salvage in the case of fire or flood". When asked to show me in your policy where it says that he replied, "well it's not written but it's our policy". I replied if it's not written it's not policy right? He disagreed but his supervisor didn't, Son 1 got the salvage.

Re: Insurance company obligation

WARNING !!!

Slight tread drift.

I have seen rock crawlers on TV and they do look quite impressive. I bet they can get expensive too.... Since they are exposed to a rather dangerous environment and the chance of a accident is pretty high, How bad were the insurance premuims for that activity and vehicle payout costs for a total ?

Thanks in advance,,, and sorry for the drift.

Re: Insurance company obligation

Still is a question for an ins. agent. But if you pay for $90k worth of hull value that's what they pay. It's not like a car where the ins co decides what the value is and then pays you that minus deductible. Not insuring your hull for loss is a bit like going to Vegas you only gamble as much as your willing to loose (well some people do). As far as flying outside of the FAR's if you're concerned about it either don't do it, don't brag about it or buy insurance that'll cover you for it.

Thread DRIFT, Son 1 had it financed, bank insisted he cover it with insurance, $900 a year for a $12,500 hull not sure about liability limit, $1,000 deductible. It paid off he owed around $6K. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f71j47sN8WI
