Introduction + 1st time aircraft owner
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
Hey everyone!
Been a member on here for awhile but sat quite lurking on the threads gaining as much info as possible the last few years. After all this time I figured now that I am an aircraft owner, I can start to interact with the BCP community.
I just recently closed on my very first aircraft this last month. Its a 64' C185 w/IO520. I have to say that I am ecstatic to be an aircraft owner after 10 years of flying. The purchase process however wasn't as "joyful" as I would have imagined.....I could go on, but I'd like to keep it civil.
Well, I just wanted to introduce myself to the community and say I am excited to share the recent "modernization" project with the BCP community. If you have any wisdom to share, I am eager to learn!
SIDE NOTE: (If anyone needs C185 interior parts, Horton aero tips or any odds or ends... I might have something for you -- We're in the process of gutting + upgrading -- Keep an eye out in the proper "Market Place" section.
Any Nor Cal / Bay Area members?
Cheers!

Welcome Goose! Will look forward to seeing pics and stories from you in the future. It's not your 185 that bigrenna (Greg) is doing up is it?

Welcome! I'm just over in Rio Vista, I have a 57' 180 that I just bought and a 170B that I'm trying to sell. There's a bunch of members in the area, I'm sure they will chime in. Where are you based out of? Bring that 185 out to the High Sierra fly in this October!

Welcome to the aircraft owner adventure.
I am based at Davis and also have a 1957 Cessna 180. Needs paint, but flys great.
I do not fly enough.

A1Skinner. Yep, thats my bird. We're working on it together. We've got the thread going in the "restoration" page. "Madness 2.0" by Greg.
robw56 & c180bill Thanks for the welcome! I'm gonna be based in Napa, the bird is currently in Mass for some extensive upgrading and won't make the October fly-in. Once she's out here, we'll have to meet up!

Goose,
Welcome aboard. I see you joined a while back, but great to have you posting. Also cool to have another member of the skywagon community; although the first step is always admitting you have a problem.
You need to change your aircraft status from "not yet" to "neck deep"!
Greg's become a real authority on these birds and it's great to see guys team up to make another one perfect. I know we'll get to hear about the upgrades, but don't forget to document the new flying adventures! Lastly, make sure you coerce Bigrenna to make a trip out west next summer for some Idaho action.

fiftynineSC - Thanks for the welcome! It was amazing that we we're able to team up and knock this project out. So far so good. Well I'll certainly keep you updated. Make sure you follow the thread we have going on the "Project" area.
Flo - Thanks for the welcome! Hollister is a stones through away and hog hunting central. We'll certainly have to meet up once the bird is done. Are their many backcountry strips down in your neck of the woods? I see a few on youtube that we're posted from time to time.
Greg - Hey buddy. Yeah it is!
