IO 520, help identifying which is #6 cylinder
Lycoming, Continental, Hartzell, McCauley, or any broad spectrum drive system component used on multiple type.
Just fired up the 185 for the first time since early September, number 6 cylinder is acts like it has a plugged injector. I have had a plugged injector twice over the years and cleaned them myself and will do again. The question is which is #6? No one to call (long Canadian holiday weekend) to ask. Thank you to anyone that knows.

Hey Steve, not 100% sure, but I think it's the left rear when sitting on the seat.

Plus it has a 6 cast into the case near the cylinder base.
If you have 1 dirty injector it would pay to flush them all out.

From what I could scrounge on the internet, my guess was the left front, but wanted to confirm. Need to get those written down somewhere. Thank you for the info.

I always forget, esp since Lyc & Cont number them differently, & so to avoid having to climb up on a ladder to check the number cast into the case I use a pencil to write the cyl # on the valve cover.

With fouled injector, easy way to figure out which it is, even w/o multi probe egt/cht is to hop out quick after shutdown, pull the top cowl, and lightly touch each cylinder. The one with the fouled injector will be quite a bit cooler than the others.

I hit the CHT probe with a heat gun before starting work to make sure the monitor is mapped to the cylinder numbers correctly.
