Do you know why the crank end-gear has to be heated so much before torquing? I assume its something to do with being at operational temperature with the correct torque, but it seems like it would be easier to calculate the adjusted torque value? Or perhaps is more about getting the fit with expansion?
It fits tight on the crankshaft end!
Heat makes it go on easier!
Also with that type of gear (new style) you have to run a shim on the starter adapter for clearance.
