IO470 exhaust bolt up to a ponk on a 182? Gains w Powerflow?
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
I am swapping out an io470 with Norland stc for a Pponk 470-50 (started as a 520). Im wondering if my same exhaust will bolt up to the new engine or if I need to start looking for exhaust for the new package? If so, does anyone have experience with the Powerflow exhaust on the 182? I believe it is the Leading Edge System and I know it has some pretty extreme claims of 15 hp/ 28 pound feet torque. Im not sure I would get my hopes up for 15 hp but one would think that a large more free flowing exhaust on a larger engine would make sense. Does anyone have experience with these on 182s and particularly a Pponk? Thanks in advance for all the great help. Love this forum.

I just took the 470U off my 180K and installed the Pponk 470-50 and used the same exhaust. It should work fine what you're doing

Reviews are starting to surface on the Leading Edge Exhaust from Powerflow. Their performance claims are likely real. They have dyno testing to back their claims.
I’ve got one on order. Not sure the current backlog. I had a very low number in line, but asked them to schedule me for August.
I’d suggest if the price or availability don’t dissuade you, then go for the Powerflow.

The same exhaust should bolt right on no problem.
On the powerflow, I have a customer with one on his 206. He also has Gamis.i have stock exhaust amd stock injectors. If there is a 15hp difference it sure doesn't make a difference on takeoff or cruise as our numbers are nearly identical in cruise and I get off the ground quicker...
Also, spoke with powerflow the other day and ad Pinecone pointed out, they have a very long backlog. So if you want to fly your plane this summer that's not an option.

thanks for the info. Yup, I could just use my stock one for now and when it is ready, bolt it up. Did you guys fly the 206 together before the exhaust? So hard to tell with separate airplanes just because there are so many variables.

He flew his before and after. I only got mine running last June so I never flew with him when his was stock.

I installed a Powerflow on my Husky, the performance gains were minimal if any at all. It does put out a tremendous amount of cabin heat though.
