Not at all. Shortfield is great and the occasional e-mail sent out is certainly not a problem for me. If you don't wish to view it just set up a filter in your e-mail program and you'll never have to see them again (or have them go into a folder that you can check when you feel like it). Easy fix.

Not at all. Looks like i've only gotten about one email per month from Chris since October, which is totally reasonable I think.

BTW, I love shortfield, and hope to contribute a lot more next summer!

I guess it IS pretty annoying to have someone spend hundreds of hours of their life building a one-of-a-kind FREE aviation resource, and then receive a few emails from them selling an often requested item: cool looking t-shirts.

If these t-shirt offers so offend thee, click the unsubscribe link included in the Shortfield.com email and go about polishing your inbox.

Haven't received any spam from Shortfield here. Just t-shirt offers.

Now, not only do I consider Viagra and Cialis emails spam, I consider them down right offensive :x !!!! Damn it  !!

Sensitive subject for you huh? :D

I just ordered up my sporty new shirt... and a couple of books too. Go Shortfield. I guess I better order up a BCP shirt too while I'm at it. Hell, that will be doubling my wardrobe.

Before I answer your question I would offer a suggestion that helped me immensely against annoying email.
I opened another email account that I use for aviation and friends only! I never use this account to purchase anything on line. In other words it is like a private phone line given that it is managed by me closely.
As for Shortfield the answer is no! maybe because like the others I wouldn't consider that spam but don't remember the last time I got an email from shortfield.
Unlike the daily barrage of spam I get on the email address I use to purchase products on line, even with a spam filter. Whereby I just cherry pick this account mail I want to read and delete all the rest.
It takes a little work but it does make one more in control!

Not really. To me those emails are ham, not spam.

There is a link at the bottom of the email you can click if you don't want to receive them.

In case no one has noticed, BCP and Shortfield have teamed up. ChrisG from Shortfield.com has been designated the Airstrip Database Manager, and continues to contribute frequently over here, as can be seen in his Chukar Flats advocacy thread, and by giving BCP members discounts at his gear store.

Frankly I'm disappointed that threads like this get started.

Actually, I am much more tired of hearing people complain on this website. Perhaps we should call a waaaaaambulance!

No kidding. It's been like a sad symphony played on the "world's smallest violin" around here lately. Must be the crappy flying weather.

Not at all. I like what Chris and Zane do for free. Which reminds me I need a Shortfield Tee.

Cheers...Rob

Thank you Zane!

Some people just need to let it go!! I think most of us are here to have fun, gain information, meet new friends, and learn from each other. I know I am. Best of all, it's "FREE"!!

I appreciate what Zane and Chris are doing for us backcountry pilots and the aviation community.

Hi all,
Thanks for the positive support and kind words about shortfield.com. Mike, sorry for the unwanted emails...I owe you a beer.

Here's my $.02:
I hate SPAM as much or more than the next guy, and that's why I don't send out much email to the registered SF users (although I do make the assumption that since you registered on the site, you won't mind the occasional shortfield or backcountry airstrip related email). Still, I'll keep those to a minimum.

The last three emails have all been t-shirt related, so I can see where that might seem like I'm trying to sell y'all something, but SF members have asked for more shirts and the mass-email seemed the best way to contact everyone.

Shortfield.com is free and I don't make ANY money from it (even with a few t-shirts sales added-in). In fact, I lose money when I work on shortfield.com, but I love this type of flying and since I haven't been getting out as much over the last couple years, this sort of keeps me "in the loop".

I'm just one guy who thinks about airplanes and backcountry flying far more that I probably should. I grew up in Idaho and have a great appreciation for the backcountry and all backcountry airstrips (in Idaho and elsewhere) and want to make sure they are preserved and enjoyed.

I think shortfield.com (as well as BCP) is a great place for pilots to interact and share their knowledge and I hope everyone will continue to use it and find value in it.

Now, while I have your attention, can I interest you in a great price on Viagra?

That must be for the folks that don't have a Shortfield (or BCP) T-Shirt.

Life is good. Life is better with wings.

I haven't gotten any E-mails, so I guess it begs the question, how did they get your E-mail address? If the answer is that you gave it to them, what did you expect? , but if the answer is that someone else gave them your E-mail address without your consent, then you have a gripe.
Another opinion.

Zane,

Are you the one responsible for giving our e-mail addresses to the Viagra vendors?

They said if I gave them enough addresses, I could get a case for free.
