Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Is this a deal?

My friend found this for $500.00 should he buy it?
He said Rotax motor and you can tow it.
I don't think it ever flew.

Looks like an Avid Flyer. Depends on how long it's been sitting out in the elements I guess.

You could hang it in your shop or hangar for art, like the J-3 in Cabellas for that price. :twisted:

I think he could do pretty well with it at that price if he wanted to part it out and sell the pieces on eBay.

Yes or no brains. My buddy is less than a month from flying his new RV7A he has been buildig for 5 years. He understands the importance of safety.

It is an Avid. I owned one for about 30 days. And "Mine" were bigger back in those days. Traded it towards a citabria, and glad that I did. jg

Pretty hard to go wrong for $500. You could unfold the wings & maount it to the top of your hangar in an "augered in" attitude. That'd be a real conversation starter.

Just buy it and paint it so it looks halfway better and then resell it. If your lucky you could almost double your money.

Here's a better idea...give me $500 and you won't have to take that piece of garbage home!

If someone offered me $500 to take that thing away I'm quite sure I wouldn't do it...the crap you don't own is worth more than the crap you do.

What a cool thing for the kids or grandkids to play in. What's a good backyard playground/ swing set/ trampoline go for these days, anyway?
When I saw that, my first thought was how great it would be to play in if you were a kid.

To a homebuilder that'd be a pretty sweet find. $500 I wouldn't hesitate a second if the frame's not rotted! Wish I could stumble across a SC for a deal like that. Heck, even if half the thing was rotten it'd be a deal for someone planning on building. Have you guys priced brackets, wing ribs, flaps, etc. A guy'd be lucky to buy the plans for most homebuilts for $500.

Anyone that wanted a Kitfox or similar plane would be way better off just buying one that's already flying or getting a new kit with known good materials in it. Thanks for all the input guys. I am relaying it to my buddy. If he doesn't buy it there are 2 others who are interested. So there will be a happy junk plane owner out there it looks like. Even if it just gets hung from the ceiling.
