It's kind of Float Flying

Came across these photos from 2016, while trying to protect the cottages across the lake from this fire. There were 2 water bombers putting on a show for the afternoon. This was taken in the Nopiming Park in Southeastern Manitoba.

Re: It's kind of Float Flying

It’s fun to watch those guys work. Years ago, I called in a fire near one of my field camps near the Yukon River. Three CL 215s (the slightly smaller recip engine version) showed up shortly and started a daisy chain, scooping and dropping, with about three miles between scoop and drop.

That went on for over nine hours except for breaks for fuel.......I don’t even want to know how many landings that came out to, but it’s pretty clear to me those guys were current by the end of the day.

That's a hard day of work! With so much at stake, how do those guys know when it's time to rest? They'd push themselves to the limits of their rules and their endurance. I know guys who fly and have flown them. They all love it, but they must be very self aware to pace themselves.

Not on floats, but I saw this Air Tractor AT802 on wheels at the Bremerton WA airport the other day.
What a beast!!
Although it says FIRE on the tail, it was configured a little differently than I imagined an SEAT would be.
Not sure, but I believe that both water & retardant / slurry are both just dumped, this was rigged for spraying.
Turns out it was in the area to do some anti- gypsy moth operations.
