Its never to late!

The pilot mentioned in this video, Matt Hall, is actually a good friend of mine. His dad was one of the original Australian drifter pilots, and drifters are also where he started before joining the air force. He comes for a burn in little popsy reguarly so as to still get his drifter hit.

Now on the red bull cicuit, Matt recently demonstrated some amazing flying skills when his plane went into an accelerated stall less than 100 feet off the ground. This video is a true demonstration as to why we must continue to fly the aircraft all the way to the ground as while ever there is air below you there is still a chance to fly away. Shit in your pants will not recover there aircraft, put all your energys into recovering the aircraft, and when safe and level, then let it flow all you want.

Hopefully matt will leave the hydroplaning to his super cub in future....

Three hundred horsepower on the nose helped a lot too. A remarkable recovery and over before the fear set in. Fly the airplane.

Looks like he kicked that right rudder pretty good to level the wings. What a great reaction time/instinct!

With so much power to weight, those things almost just follow the engine around. Almost. Yes, good job getting on the rudder to level the wing.

There was a company that built wings for those things in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where Underwood Aerial Patrol was headquartered. I watched those guys checking the integrity of wings they put on. Hurt my back just to watch.

Probably explains why he is among a tiny fraction of less than 1 percent of pilots that can do that sort of flying. Got to see the air races in San Diego a few years back. Pretty amazing stuff. It really highlights what an immensely capable pilot can do at the controls of an immensely capable machine.
