Javelin tanks
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

What would a used Javelin fuel tank for a 170 be worth?
Can you even get new ones?
I know some don't like having fuel inside the cabin, but it sure beats 5 gallon jugs plus it vents to the outside!

I mostly agree with ccurrie.
Nothing changes with any of the plumbing with the Delair tanks and are gravity fed.
No need to wire in an electrical pump. No need to remember to pump it up.
The Delair tanks also work if you loose lectricity. Have not run out of gravity yet.
Too many accidents end up on their backs or bent in the middle.
I have the LONG rang tanks from Delair.
Only minor argument with ccurrie is that the totals are 52 and 67.
Harry's EXTENDED range tanks add onto the end of the existing tank and go out one more rib.
That make 7-1/2 gals. per side. Matches up with the C175 wings.
The LONG range tanks go out two ribs per side. or a total of 30 gallons extra.
As before I advise the EXTENDED range tanks.
The LONG range tanks are a bit more of an installation challenge.

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.
Chris,
What was the cost of the DelAire tanks?

Sorry I was thinking in Canadian gallons. As I recall Harry quoted me 6000 for the 67gal. I believe that was plus install. It was a couple years ago so I cant be sure. give him a call he is a wealth of cessna knowledge

Javelin Tanks were optional equipment from factory -carry about 18 gallons and can be added to airplane with log book entry. I know where I can get several tanks . Plumbing goes up to r/h wing main and pumps up with pump. I've had several . Jeff Fields has his removable (54 C180) or useable for long trips. I've also got a set of "Flint Tip Tanks -24 gallon " that I'd part with for the right offer. Javelin Tanks sometimes found on ebay will go anywhere from 100-600 bucks. My bladder-ears won't last over 5 hours in my old 182,with extra fuel it goes another 2 hours so you could out and back sometimes .

I had a Javelin tank in my 170B. It worked real well and that extra 18 gallons really extended my range without a major retrofit with wing tanks. We also put an aux tank in my wife's 150/150. Kind of grossed her out with that big O-320, but once again it was a good solution for a small airplane.
