JC Crash Aug 29

Anyone have any info on a crash yesterday Aug 29 at JC?
I have a friend who was landing there at that time. Internet
and webcams are down and now Fire TFR designated.

I don't see a TFR for that area.

Report is it crashed short of the runway and caught fire. That's all I've found.

Re: JC Crash Aug 29

The TFR was there only for a few hours. Holiday weekend and
needed to get fire out quickly. Eye witness said landed 1/2 down runway
to the South with a 10-15 knot tailwind, bounced multiple times and tried
to go around. Hit terrain caught fire and no survivors. Had just filled up
at Jerome and with extended tanks, pretty heavy. A very experienced pilot
but just goes to show you, it can happen to any of us. Stay safe and if any
doubt as to what your trying or want to do, pass it up and wait for a better day.

Re: JC Crash Aug 29

Landing with a 12-15kt tailwind and accepting a halfway down the runway overspeed landing doesn't sound like "very experienced" to me. He may have lots of hours, but how many in this environment? God Rest Their Souls.
