Looks like a hoot. What do most people do for gas in the area?

Well, there's a gas station in town if you can use MOGAS with ethanol. Pops has several cans and there's a car to go get some in town.

If not, stop nearby and top off on your way in so you have some gas to play. Eureka seems to be closest for AVGAS (05U), but Battle Mountain is almost $1 per gallon cheaper and only a few minutes further (KBAM).

What's the best way through/around all the Restricted Airspace and MOA's coming from the Tahoe area? I see there are some exclusions.

Re: Joe

You need to come full or bring some gas to play if you need 100LL. Easy to grab gas in Derby via I80, my preferred route with options then around the corner of the restricted or go the south route through Yerington and grab gas and around the corner of the restricted. Both fairly easy.

You also have Battlemountain to the north with a fairly short flight if you need fuel.

Re: Joe "Pops" Dory's Austin Fly-In & Jamboree 20 Aug 2016)

I just found out we will have 500 gallons of 100 LL on a refueler to be available. Not sure yet of $..Also, the courtesy car we had is toast.. Shes No Bueno.. Otherwise all is set, big ol steer is hanging in the meat cooler. Hauling a bunch wood out tomorrow, Lions Club "War Wagon" is set to be there full of pop, beer n booze..ha.. We'll have a kids bounce house, an a pretty good PA system for tunes or even Jammin if anyone is so inclined. On Sat, PLanning a STOL event, some kind of Flour drop deal, maybe some fly outs to "challenging" spots or less challenging spots, depending on interest, and maybe we'll try a "bucket drop demo"... or Spot Landing.. depending on interest..Fly bys are always encouraged anytime... Best if between the ramp and runways... Let's have a Fun, and Safe get together.... 122.9 for everyone, be seen and heard.. announce all your intentions. Joe 775 964 8001 [email protected]

Re: Joe "Pops" Dory's Austin Fly-In & Jamboree 20 Aug 2016)

Coming into Austin from the West? There is a VFR corridor between R4804A and R4816S if you stay just slightly North of Hwy 50 and between 7500 and 8000 ft. Or.. call Fallon Desert on 126.2 and ask to go direct. About half the time, you'll be cleared direct, the other half, told to use the corridor. Once through the corridor just remain clear of restricted airspace and pay no further attention to the MOAs, just be alert.

Wave as you pass us on Hwy 50. We'll be in the motorhome wandering that way at about 65 mph.
