I have a long way to go, but soloed today in Lake Aero's 150H. Did a couple touch and goes, flew up the canyon to my house, and back to the airport again (I only live 7 miles away)

I can't wait to get my Champ in the air so I can stop renting. My instructor said practice what we've been doing for 5 or 6 hours and then we'll start the cross country stuff. I will probably have more time than that by the end of next week. Wow, I am really smiling right now.

I know a guy who solo'd and never turned back... He was my initial inspiration into the flying world. I just recently found out, many many years later, he never bothered to get his certificate. Then he told some stories that made it obvious he never got his certificate. I recommend completing the course.

Glad you got in to the air alone. Stick with it and keep flying. Its a big world and alot to see ...

I will probably have the last 8 hours of the block of time I paid/traded for used up by friday. I would do it this weekend, but the 150 will be in Yakima. I really need to get motivated and get the Champ done.
I am taking my A&P test next month, I hope to be a pilot shortly after. I am motivated to keep working at this and get my commercial but don't really know if there is much of a market for a 40 year old bush pilot with the same amount of hours as a 20 something.
Life after owning a fast paced high stress business is proving to be interesting, I'll just keep plugging away at things and see where it takes me.

If you haven't started doing so already, start studying for the written. It seems people get very excited to solo and then lose steam, especially after they see how much studying the written requires. Knock that baby out and enjoy your new found expensive hobby.

I am on a break from John and Martha right now. I want to have my written done in 2 weeks.

Some where beyond 23,000 hours and I can still tell you more about my solo 35 yers ago than most of the rest of the hours. Congratulations and keep going!

I need to figure out how to to with aviation what I have done with motorcycle racing for most of my life. Make enough money doing it to keep doing it, and still make the house payment. I stopped being and A&P back in 1996 because I made more wrenching on Ducati's and BMW's. Plus, no one was going to let a 26 year old A&P (or any age for that matter) take an aircraft on a vacation for 2 weeks, race borrowed aircraft, and fly me to every race track in the country and then some to wrench. But in the world of motorcycle mechanics, having an A&P make you a god of sorts. I was easy to walk away from aviation back then.
Now that I feel like my motorcycle career has ran it's course, I am looking for ways to hack out a living in the aviation world. I have a few ideas, a few leads on things. I will just keep chopping away at it and see where I end up. I still have bike customers following me around. In fact I need to be on my way to the hangar where there are enough bikes to fix to pay for another pile of Champ parts and a few hours in the Cessna.
