The family running the place is great. Paul owns a Husky, 185, and now a PC6 that he uses to supply the guest ranch with the food they serve. They run another cattle ranch near Cody. His wife is on site for the guest ranch season and their youngest son runs the horses and upkeep of the place. After mid September the cabins are available as a hunting lodge. Plenty of info on the ranch online, it was great. Food, fishing, riding etc...
It turns out I was the first person to fly into the place as a guest since they started running it. The strip is at 8,800ft and is 3,500 long, slightly uphill to the east. Density altitude could be an issue especially if its warm and there is a tailwind on takeoff. Its' just enough uphill that I'd consider it one way without a real stiff wind out of the east. They rolled the surface recently and the whole length is in pretty good shape. Plenty of room to maneuver south and northwest of the strip. It's a few miles from the ranch but Kathy was happy to give us a ride. Paul's tie down spot is protected by a barb wire fence to keep free range cattle away or to dissuade a passing bear from checking out your plane; although, we were lucky the strip was clear.
They're obviously alright with overnight guests using the airstrip. Past that it sounds like they may be alright allowing people to use the strip with permission and possibly camping in the future. If that ends up being a possibility I'll post more about it.
