Kitfox 4 1200 size question

Review some published data, it doesn't seem like there is much cabin room in a Kitfox 4 1200. Anybody here 6' 3" 250lbs+ own a Kitfox 4 ? What are your thoughts

Thanks

Re: Kitfox 4 1200 size question

Im 6 foot, about 275..... I rode in the right seat of a kitfox 4 with the owner who is just slightly smaller than me in the left.... It was tight, but doable.... Would be fine solo.... For 3 more inches would have to have a thin seat cushion probably...

Just my 2C

You would fit. What are you used to flying? If your a big Cessna driver your gonna think its tiny. It's hard to describe the fit because of the ergonomically designed fiberglass seat pan. Your best bet would be to just go and sit in one and see what you think. They are pretty easy to find. There are a few active forums out there to help you locate one.

Re: Kitfox 4 1200 size question

I found quite a difference in comfort between the IV and V's. And I rode in a friends wide body IV. I'm 6'/220lbs. I felt it definately worth it to go with the V if you could afford it.

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

Re: Kitfox 4 1200 size question

I'm 6'3" & 165 Lb. I fly a kitfox model 4 and have no problem with the height. With a full size adult passenger its pretty cozy. It took a while for my wife to learn to stay out of the way of the stick on her side when we are taking off and landing. Solo there's plenty of room. Like suggested above, try to find one and see how it fits.

Re: Kitfox 4 1200 size question

I use a clevis type pin to keep the stick in on the right side. 99% of the time the right stick is tucked away under the seat. I only put it in the socket if I am taking up someone who wants to take a turn flying it, other than that, it is safely out of the way so I dont get any unwanted input from a freaked out passenger when things get bumpy or abnormal (pilot cooling fan stops turning etc.)

My C150/150TD is pretty cozy inside too. I got tired of anyone taller than about four foot one getting their knees tangled up in the yoke and/or their feet tangled up in the rudder pedals, so I removed all the RH flight controls. Makes it a lot more roomy for the pax. I can reinstall the yoke in about two minutes if I wanna take someone up & give them a taste of flying the airplane-- newbies don't usually savvy the rudder pedals anyway so I'm already used to doing that for them.
The RH controls on lots of airplanes are optional equipment, not required, so it is legal to remove them if you log it and modify the W&B sheet accordingly. This makes sense if you could use the room and you're not gonna be sharing the piloting duties with anyone.

Buy a champ. I'm 6'2" and 280, and it is a great fit. Granted you do have to be in decent shape to get in one. I have tried to get in kit foxes and it never seems to work well enough for me to actually spend mula on one. Hope this helps.
