kitfox goes down @ my field

A sad day at my field. A kitfox on a demo flight to a perspective buyer goes down, burns, killing both pilots. I saw it doing touch and goes. It went down on crosswind leg. It looked like it was "mushy" when I saw it on crosswind but then I turned toward the runup area and thought it departed the area. I left not knowing anything about it till I got back a couple of hours later.
I knew the local pilot---real nice gentleman who owned a 170.

such a shame

hey rob,
thanks 4 your thoughts
you sure are flying a lot these days. I've been reading of your adventures
I'm close to getting it together to make the j. c. fly-in this year. Hope to see you there but I might have to hit you up for a loan as it is 2700 mi. round trip.

s.k.

I also knew the local pilot, who was the instructor. We used to have lunch together several years ago. He was in the Air Force for 22 years, and as I remember it, he flew 265 combat missions over Viet Nam, was shot down and bailed out once, and had taken his 170 to Alaska two or three times. When I see other reports of planes going down around the country I always say a prayer for the families and feel sadness in my heart; when it is somebody you know it really hits home.
